Carolyn Blume holds the Chair for Digital Teaching and Learning in the Dortmund Competence Center for Teacher Education at the Technical University Dortmund (Germany). Her main research interests lie in the field of digitally-mediated language learning, digital game-based language learning (DGBLL), inclusive education for students with special needs, teacher education, & social justice issues in (language) education. She is also a fully qualified former teacher and school administrator.

Research regarding the use of digital media in a variety of ways to foster collaboration among learners at tertiary, secondary, and primary levels to foster interaction and shared meaning-making.
Strengthening teacher education at the TU Dortmund through a focus on heterogeneity and inclusion, broadly defined, in all phases of teacher education.

QualiTIES is a cooperative project with the Leuphana University Lüneburg and the Qualitäts- und UnterstützungsAgentur Nordrhine-Westfalen. A professional development opportunity for EFL teachers based on principles of teacher further education and blended learning, the development and research focuses on communicating and fostering best practices in inclusive EFL classes at the early secondary level.
